[Rather On Fire]

Okay, this could get pretty confusing, so I'll tell you what is going to happen:

If I'm correct, the current plan between me and HSRT is that we will write two stories - SIMULTANEOUSLY -  and write short stories!

EDIT by HSRT: And since it was really confusing for me...

1-1 = Plot 1, Chapter 1

2-1 = Plot 2, Chapter 1

And so on and so forth! ... it's plot first, not chapter, like I thought first!

... hope you don't mind my edit, budd-eh'!

I'll keep the second story's plot a secret for now... And while I'm doing that... may as well cross that out. ... man, I'm getting antsy. Nothing to moderate lately, besides unstickying and stickying.

CHAPTER 1-1 (Ah, Super Paper Mario...): The Portal

What would you do if your computer was a portal?  If it could bring you anywhere you wanted, let you do anything imaginable?

What would you do...




...If it was a one-way trip into the internet?


One kid thought over that question on the bus ride home.  Finally, he could get back home and log on to BHZ!
 
When he got to the site, something odd happened.  A small, purple dot formed in the center of his screen.  It quickly grew, until a spiraling vortex covered the screen.

It looked almost three-dimensional.  The boy reached out to feel it, and found himself sucked in.

He soon woke up in pitch black.  All he could see was a bookstand and the Thnikkaman walking back and forth.

And then there was a green goblin.  The boy got up, and walked around, nearly avoiding a bottomless pit...with school spirit.  Suddenly, he ran into the bookstand, and passed out.

Hours later, he woke up and found himself on what seemed like a barren, moonlike landscape.  As he walked around, he noticed a guarded building.  One of the guards noticed him approaching, and stopped him.

"Halt!  Name please!"

The boy told his name, but was not allowed entry.  Suddenly, he got an idea.

"On BHZ, I'm called Rather On Fire."

The guard replied, "Oh, Rather!  Come in!"

Rather On Fire was allowed entry.  In the building, all he saw was a small elevator.  He went down to the lower floor, and found a large, glowing sphere.  An older man was also there.

"Hey, it's Rather!"  Said the man.

"Where are we?"

"This is the power core for Burning Horizon's Homestar Runner Fan Planet."

"P...planet?  I thought it was forum!"

"Well...it was.  You can call this the forum's second upgrade.  BHZ hasn't told just how he made it yet, so we know as much as you."

"So, how'd you get here?"

"BHZ brought us here.  How'd you get here?"

"I just went to the site, and my computer became a portal."

"That's not supposed to happen...Only admins and mods are supposed to be here for the moment."

"Mods?  Is HSRT here, too?"

"Yeah, but we're not sure where he went.  Hey, while you're here, can you help us find him?"

"Sure!  Say, who are you, anyways?"

"My name...is Potthole!"

CHAPTER 2-1 (Ah, Portal...): Super Paper Mario

September 6th, 2003:

   If anything is certain, it's that I was happy to have found this place. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, even supportive of what I was doing. At the forum I'd joined previous to this one, I was immediately criticized over my skills in animation. Some had nice things to say... but the overall feel of things were that they loomed over me, waiting to pounce on anything I attempted. They were all way over my league, and I was only 7 at the time! Things only got better when I got better... and when I got friends. They introduced me to Homestar Runner, and I immediately fell in love with! Most probably, literally! I tried on my best impressions, even though it was apparent back then I could hardly do them right. I was constantly quoting the lines during class and getting this huge gut-busting kick out of it! Soon, they told me about the secrets, which I became addicted to trying to find myself by holding down Tab... but even better, soon I found this website. It had EVERYTHING! It was MARVELOUS. Stupendous! It was... AMAZABULONDERFISTASTIC, as I'd probably say now!

   Then I saw it. The small, almost unnoticeable grey-lettered link off to the left. I clicked it... and almost as a reflex, I clicked Register. I joined, and I was happy.


... and Homstar told me immediately afterward never to steal his donuts.

September 6th, 2008:

   Things weren't the same. But I was still happy! Very! Just... things didn't seem quite right. The attention had quickly seeped down to the bottom of the forum pages, after Brett and yello_dello left. The off-topic section was like a parting gift from them. All the shining NEW POST notifications had moved from the top to the bottom, just like how Biology teaches diffusion, until Monday rolled around. Then the new email thread would be posted by anyone who could be... in any way bothered...  to do it. Truth be told, most of the people sticking around weren't sticking around for the reason this place was made. It almost put me in a state of shock to hear the own administrator of the place hadn't caught up with the updates in nearly two years. It'd become a standard any-topic-goes message board, almost in direct comparison to the blue-gray shade of the forum.

   It almost seemed like the off-topic board had done something to us. Before, we had been warned against going off-topic. That was the point of the CGN! I never let myself become active in there, but many of the active BHZers became immediately attached to it. ... this off-topic board proved to be the significant step in the other direction. The tangent from Homestar Runner... to the world.

   But today was the day that everything, EVERYTHING did a 360 on me- no- a 720. It felt like my world was spinning around under my feet, like how I used to feel after holding onto a pole in the school hallway, mindlessly turning my way around it, running in circles until I could see my mom's car off in the distance. It started to feel like it was not me propelling myself around the ground... but the ground was propelling itself against me. And it started to propel without any assistance the day I logged on to find no other users on besides myself... no other guests...

... but every single board was filled with new topics.

CHAPTER 1-2: Unfortunate Design Flaw

"What about the Who's Online page?"

"It hasn't been implemented yet.  Believe me.  If it was, we'd have found  HSRT by now."

Rather On Fire began looking around.  He began thinking to himself...

"Where could he be?  Knowing HSRT, he couldn't be in CGN...That's it!"

Rather On Fire checked every thread in Skills of an Artist, and at last he found HSRT.

"Hey!  You're not a mod or an admin!  You're not supposed to be here!"

"I've checked with Potthole.  It's o-"

Rather On Fire was suddenly cut off by a blaring alarm.

"WARNING!  UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY!  INITIATING LOCKDOWN MODE!"

HSRT and ROF just barely got outside before the doors locked.  The intruder only made a brief entrance, and the doors soon unlocked.

HSRT began talking with ROF.

"I'm sorry, but you'll have to leave now."

"Actually," Pottholle added, "When BHZ designed this virtual reality, he was too excited to remember to add an exit.  We're all stranded here."

"Where's BHZ now?"

"H...he's here, too.  He can't add the exit, so we'll need someone still on Earth to fix it."
