Hm.  The poll might have to come down.  Giants already winnèd.
Finally!  The Pats didn't win!
In other news, I don't think I'll watch the SuperBowl next time -- just because I'm Bostonian doesn't mean I have to sit in front of an LCD monitor for 2+ hours rooting for a team that already won a million bowls this decade.  I'm fine with the Giants winning.  They need some glory, too, y'know.
By the way, before you ask, I'm not gonna say root for the wrongly pronounced "Ssssssceltics" out of nationalism, either.

I sort of watch the Super Bowl. By sort of, I mean, the computer was in the same room as the TV my dad was watching it in, so I could hear it even with my headphones on.

Good game, iffy commercials. Not as many really good ones like last year.

The only thing that stinks about the Pats losing is that we'll now have to continue on hearing all about how great of a team the 1972 Dolphins were, and how no team ever will be as good as them, yadda, yadda, yadda...

That's the only thing I would have enjoyed if the Patriots won- all those annoying former Dolphin players and their annoying fans would finally have to shut up.

So, who were you rooting for then? You said that's the "only" thing.

Overall, I didn't really care.  I guess I was hoping more that the Giants would win, but had they not, I would have been fine, because of said shutting up of the 1972 'Fins.

I wonder if half those people down on the field even knew who Tom Petty was...

Honestly, I don't understand why people think this game was "meh." I thought it was a great game, especially the last quarter. Why exactly do you think it was "meh"?

Mainly because it was really low-scoring through the first 3 quarters, and I was so bored with it that I missed the last one. But I guess that's kind of my fault, isn't it?

Yeah, but low scoring doesn't necessarily mean a boring game. That's how I see it at least. The only time a game ever really bores me is when one team is pretty far ahead of the other time, and it's obvious the other team isn't going to win.

To a degree I'll take Tire's argument up.  I love football, and I thought the first three quarters were a total snoozefest.  Closeness be danged, it was just slow paced and difficult to watch.  Long drives, 10+ plays total, taking multiple minutes off the game clock, turning up with no points scored, stalled just inside or just outside of the redzone.  I enjoy a good defensive battle and all, but that was too much for me.  The fourth quarter was very much an exciting finish, but I'd rather have a close high scoring game, than a close low scoring one.

You are right, though, anakin, I'd rather see a close low scoring game than a blowout.

To me, it's really a question of whether excellent line play or skill position play gets you all excited.  If skill positions are your thing, this was likely not the game for you until the fourth quarter.  If you like watching a D-line play about as well as they can, this was a fantastic game.  While the Pats O-Line certainly couldn't handle the Giants front seven, it was a really interesting game to watch the different coverages combined with the zone read blitzes that the Giants were sending.  (I roomed with an Offensive Lineman in college, and so now I actually care about this stuff.)

Quite true.  It's funny, you'd think that being a Big Ten fan, I'd enjoy the defensive nature of that game more.   Undecided
