They obviously created a shortcut to recycle bin, and then put the real recycle bin in the shortcut.  Roll Eyes

Oh wait... yeah I can see how that's annoying.

^Not french names, and he said it was a custom chart, which makes it quite difficult to find.

Ah, well, that's the only French song I know was in GHIII. I only have the PS2 version, so if he's talking about a downloadable song, I have no idea. Although, you could check the GHIII song list on Wikipedia and find it that way.

I take it you don't know what a "custom chart" is. They're fan-made songs created in some add-on program for the PC version of the game (as far as I know). They're not part of any official song lists for the games.

And for the record, "Mauvais Garcon" is also a French song, on disk on all versions of the game.

I'll tell you one thing that scrambles my eggs but good! Answering machines!

I got one just the other day and I hooked it up just like they said in the instructions, and then I said, "Hey Answering machine, do you like my new pants?" and it just sat there. And I said, "Weeell, will I ever find love?" and it just sat there!

And I said, "Well, maybe an easier question... what's the best automobile for someone in my price range?" AND IT JUST SAT THERE! Now that's not an answering machine, that's a just-sitting-there machine!

Here are some quickies:

-I really hate the word "quickies"

-Every time someone says "Al Gore says he invented the internet" or some variation thereof it makes me want to bash their brains in

-Automated sinks are not convenient or helpful at all. Every time I try to use one I end up waving my hand under the nozzle for 10 seconds like an idiot until I finally find the sweet spot, which always startles the heck out of me. Yeah, I know it's so you don't have to touch the "dirty" sink handle but, you know what, suck it up. Or wrap your hand in a paper towel.

-People who attatch ANY significance to either Barack Obama's middle name or the fact that his last name rhymes with "Osama" should not be allowed to vote.

Ever since I got my hands around the dinky plastic neck of a Guitar Hero II controller, I've been a huge fan of the series. When Guitar Hero III came out, I immediately went out and bought- well, I gave my roommate a bunch of money and sent him out to buy it post-haste. And I thought it was fantastic. Being one of 6 people who never owned a PS2, I never actually owned Guitar Hero II, just sort of systematically moved in with everyone I knew who had it. So now, being able to rock out whenever I wanted was amazing. And it was a lot of fun; I enjoyed the songs, I enjoyed the semi-workout, I enjoyed the fact that here was a game I was finally better than most other people at.

Then I find out that Rock Band supposedly makes GHIII looks like "Drake Bell Teaches Guitar."

So, a few times my friends and I decided to get together with all the Rock Band peripherals and join the band experience. This rant is not just mine; it is the combined feelings of anger, pain, and betrayal that my friends and I all share after a night of attempting to play Rock Band, the supposed best rhythm game on the market.

First off, I live in a small house. There's really no room anywhere to fit every part of Rock Band. In order to play requires a decent amount of re-arranging in my game room. I'm talking maybe 10-15 minutes from the time we decide to play to the time Rock Band is all set up. That's not including any time needed to find out why the heck certain instruments aren't working, and even then, mid-song, they would occasionally crap our again. Mostly the notorious drum set, which would hardly register one of the pads, and, in the case of last night, not work at all, period.

Then, let's say we're finally ready to play Rock Band. The last time we tried this, we had to start from scratch, so we played the band world-tour campaign. Alright, I'm gunna go ahead and give a little tip on how to run a main campaign in a video game (See, who needs Rock Band to bust awesome lyrics). MINDLESS REPETITION = BAD. No one has ever enjoyed this. Look at Brawl. Everyone hated the part of the main campaign where you have to, more or less, do everything over again. Repetition is only fun when it can be kept new and exciting each time; and Rock Band isn't quite like that. Now, if you really like a song, playing it often can still be fun. But being forced to play a song literally dozens of times in order to progress is ridiculous and if I ever hear "Wanted" or "Say it Ain't So" ever again I want to rip my own ears off. And I originally really liked Wanted, too. Yes, Rock Band killed a song for me.

So overall, we determined last night that it's pretty much just more fun to take turns playing Guitar Hero at parties, rather than trying to struggle through Rock Band. This is why I would much rather await Guitar Hero IV (still just for the guitar; I still would never want to try stuffing the drum set into a corner of my house somewhere) than Rock Band II. This i why I feel Guitar Hero III, rather than being "Rock Band's emotionally challenged cousin," is a fantastic party game and Rock Band can go take a flying leap.

Might I suggest just unlocking all the songs via a single player campaign (or maybe just the Unlock All Songs code) and just playing Band Quickplay/Score Duel/Tug of War?
Because Band World Tour + party environment = not fun

*rock band rant*

Now, I can see where you're coming from. The only thing Rock Band has on Guitar Hero is drums and vocals - vocals which seem lifted from games like SingStar. Other than the drums, it's not really original.

Oh, and I agree with the repetition. Today, I was playing it with my sister, BWT, guitar and bass, and we were in Boston. Just so you know, Celebrity Skin is by far my least favorite song in the game, and Wanted is the most boring song on bass ever. EVER.

And so we did the first venue. The two single songs they had at the beginning were Celebrity Skin and Wanted. Bleh. But the other packs were fun - except when we had to do Black Hole Sun in one of them, because that song, while great to listen to, is boring as heck on guitar and bass in Rock Band.

We do the second venue - we do the set called "The Chops Proving Set".  Song list: Celebrity Skin, When You Were Young, Black Hole Sun, Wanted Dead Or Alive.

-_-. Other than WYWY, that is like the worst possible setlist we could have gotten. If they had replaced WYWY with Dead On Arrival (which has no rhythm, and I dislike not just because it's a FOB song), it would have been THE worst.

Then in the last venue, we did some set that I don't remember what it was called. Song list: Celebrity Skin, Wanted Dead Or Alive, Paranoid. After Wanted, I might have screamed if the next song was Black Hole Sun. I agree with Teatime: I used to like Wanted but at least right now I'm really tired of it.

I really like Rock Band, but I don't find it superior to Guitar Hero, mainly because I suck at drums and I can just sing along with Guitar Hero anyway, and due to Guitar Hero:World Tour having vocals, I'm pretty much screwed (pardon my French) as far as instrumentals go. Soothsayer/Nottingham Lace? Nope. Satch Boogie (which was practically CONFIRMED before drums and vocals were)? Nope. PARADIGM SHIFT? Nope. Instrumentals were some of the most fun songs to play in previous Guitar Heroes. I understand that the drums are new and exciting with Rock Band and all that, but PLEASE, Neversoft, keep Guitar Hero and Rock Band two separate games.

UHH...
The singing system is 'lifted' from Karaoke Revolution, which Harmonix (yes, the guys who created Rock Band) developed.
The first Karaoke Revolution was released in North America in 2003, and SingStar didn't show up until 2004.
I fail to see how they copied SingStar, especially since the vocal element in Rock Band is just a tweaked version of Karaoke Revolution (Harmonix has made this comparison themselves)  Roll Eyes

But yeah, Rock Band's a total ripoff of other rhythm games with drums and vocals. Guitar Hero, on the other hand, was totally original upon its release.

Mini-rant: Why do people insist on putting down Guitar Hero/Rock Band/ other modern rhythm games because the "playing with plastic instruments" isn't original? There haven't been any original concepts in video games in years!
It's not about who does it first, it's about who does it best.

Quote

I agree with this. Tacking on more instruments to Guitar Hero seems like it'll lock out a lot of possibly great guitar songs, especially instrumentals. I'd prefer if they kept Guitar Hero as just guitar and made a band spinoff, but I guess you have to keep the name to make sure it sells.
I'd go off on another rant about this, but it's too late. Maybe later. Raincheck'd

XD sorry I was really tired when I wrote that. Yeah, Karaoke Revolution came first.

And GuitarFreaks only had three buttons, whereas both GH and RB both have 5 (though I didn't say it was a ripoff of GH, because up until GH3, they were made by the same people so...)

RRRRAAAAAAAARRR I'm playing Kingdom Hearts 2 on a broken PS2 (I knew it was broken when I borrowed it) but one of the effects of the brokenness is that when I change into a drive form the action pauses while the game takes 8 seconds to load. Well, actually only Sora pauses. The enemies keep going (but can't hurt Sora) and so does any time limit countdown that may be in effect. Also, any loading takes about half a minute. Factor in that I'm playing on Proud Mode means that if I die on, say, the lightcycle race's second stage multiple times, every time I die I:
hit the "continue" option
wait 30 seconds to load the continue
run back to the room where I enter the Space Paranoids
wait 30 seconds to enter space paranoids
watch/skip the cutscene
wait 30 seconds to load the game
beat the first half (hopefully)
wait 30 seconds to load the next half
probabl,y die again.

Also, the fight against Saix in Hollow Bastion actually has me pounding the floor because of its obscene difficulty. That'll teach me to play a game on a setting that isn't "normal"

It really annoys me when people use ridiculous cliches in the "about me" section on social networking sites. i.e., "you just have to know me," "I can be your best friend or your worst nightmare," etc. Seriously, people.
