Plus, if you go to school as an art major, you pretty much need a Mac.
hahaha, no way. I use a G5 in our design labs and have a pretty decent dell laptop at home running xp, and I can go back and forth with files pretty seamlessly. All you really need to run the adobe suite smoothly is a decent amount of ram. Don't get me wrong, I'd have a G5 at home if I could afford it, but you definitely don't need one. |

I'm just repeating what my art major friends have said, and I have three of them, and all of them have said they couldn't do their homework on a PC. |

What programs are they using, just out of curiosity? The only one I can think that they might have a problem with is Suitcase Fusion.
Really though, we have 100+ art majors in our program, I'm always curious to see what software other art majors are using.

Really though, we have 100+ art majors in our program, I'm always curious to see what software other art majors are using.
I don't know so much about what software they use, but I asked one of my art major friends why they needed a Mac, and she said that because Apple gives discounts to art programs at schools, pretty much all art departments and art schools use Macs, and students with Macs will have an easier time transferring files from lab computers to their own. They can transfer from Mac to PC, but sometimes there will be a data loss. Don't ask me to explain how that's possible, I'm just going by what she said. Apparently she's known people that it's happened too. |
