So, Microsoft just released their new marketing campaign today called "The Mojave Experiment". The gist of it is Microsoft gathered 140 people together who have never used Windows Vista, but have heard stories about it, whether it be from friends or the news. Then, they ask them to rate what they think of Vista on a scale of 0-10 with 0 being dirt and 10 being a gift from god. The average score, 4.4. Next, they show the person a "new" version of Windows that's supposed to be coming out codenamed "Windows Mojave". They show the person some of the features and let them play around with it themselves, then they ask them what they would rate it. Average rating? 8.5. Finally, once they rate it, the reps reveal that "Mojave" was actually Vista. Here is the website for you to check it out: http://www.mojaveexperiment.com/Personally, I think it's a great idea. I've been a happy Vista user for about a year now and while I may have a problem here or there with it, I haven't had any more problems than I've had with XP. Vista gets a lot of bad press for no good reason. Sure, if you've been using XP during it's extremely long run, there is a slight learning curve to Vista, but once you get the hang of it, it's easier to use than XP. So, what do you guys think?

I think this is a really good thing. I agree with you that Vista isn't bad and people need to know what they're talking about. But I suppose that's a lot to ask of the internet.

It's pretty nice. I've been using Vista for a while now, and though it was a bit of an awkward change from XP, I believe it's a good change. Of course, there were some glitches and stuff in beginning, but so did WoW in the beginning, and it has 9 million subscribers world wide now. Some people are just either over reacting or prejudging.

Decent marketing idea. Honestly, though, I'm not sure if they'll ever be able to get Vista as popular as XP.
My friend has Vista on his home computer, and it's not bad. He had a lot of trouble at first, but some of the more recent updates have gotten most, if not all, of those issues to go away.

People's reactions in this experiment are still only based on initial fascinations and misleading information (perhaps a subconscious inclination to believe that Mojave is better than Vista because of their existing dislike of Vista). If they had Vista on their home computer and used it for their everyday tasks, long enough for the "new toy" factor to wear off, they may or may not think differently.

One's experience with Vista (or any OS, for that matter) can be described with a simple phrase: "Your mileage may vary."
