Hoosha, I feel like TBC intentionally made this picture itty and bitty.

Let's get everyone's guesses, though-- (from left to right, and if I get even ONE of these right, I'll be surprised.)

Pom Pom, er, has ONE hand? Or is it just something sticking out of his standard nub? That's gotta be a dead giveaway for SOMEONE. The hat makes me think of a bit of the Pillsbury Dough Boy.

Homsar is an evil train conductor. Ride that gravy train.

And Strong Bad's monster-of-the-year, uh... ... is that... a kind of Siren Head? Apologies, I'm sure I'm way off-base there.

Marzipan is, er, the Snowflake Inspector Detector from Pajama Sam 2, but with ponytails.

Bubs might be wearing a scarf and English cap of some kind... he's a cozy guy. :  )

Homestar's pompadour makes me think he's The Fonz. I can't tell if anything's different about his torso.

Strong Sad-- woah, is there ANY chance he's Fan Boy from Freakazoid?

Coach Z is a Bic pen mascot.

King of Town looks like he's got a fish sticking out of a really gnarly beard-- so the first thing I think is he's Mr. Twit from Roald Dahl's The Twits.

Poopsmith's hair reminds me of... Guile from Street Fighter. Something nutty like that. Some plasticky toy with sculpted hair.

The Cheat looks like he's got a corn-cob pipe in his maw, but the rest of his silhouette ain't giving me anything. I'm gonna say he's an evil Star Wars droid.

And Strong Mad is almost certainly Donkey Kong.

... That little peak really got me thinkin' of Donkey Kong.

That's all it takes to turn old Graw Mad into a Kong. Donkey Strong.

I'm hoping "That will be all" means there's a new toon and it's not just the standing around in the costumes thing. Either way, these always make me feel so nostalgic.

My René Favourittes:

• Continuing the Mel Blanc-level trend of other characters impersonating other characters
• The Brothers Strong being part of a group ET costume -- the group costumes continue to add to the interpersonal hijinx. Still not over Coach Z & Pom Pom working together on Mr. Poofers Must Die. I think Strong Mad just got confused because their family taped ET and Neverending Story on the same VHS, and he mixes them up because of that. Regardless, it was a full-family costume theme.
• "Paunchy America"
• "Rondonnie/Ronjohnny" <-- which I can only assume is the newest iteration of "Rondleman"/"Rondo".
• *The Show-ified version of These Peoples Try to Fade Me*
• "Go froward!"
• "That bottle of water that's over there. It had some green stuff on it, but it might be on the outside I'm not sure. *deliberately* That bottle of water ... that's over there.
• "Door Number 2ce."
• Marzipan as Penny is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. So over the mooOO OOooon that we've gotten two Pee Wee costumes now. Honestly, Homestar's legs are made for Pee Wee.
• "That Shriveled Grandma Muppet from Dark Crystal" <-- Aughra would be SO proud.
• "I typed out the whole recipe instead of just takin' a screenshot." I, er... I have done this. ... ... I know how it feels, Homsar. I also have to say that the idea that Homsar's spin-off mutation from the source of Homestar allowing him to unwittingly say whatever Homestar might think is an incredible addition. Reminds me of the old coot in Always who repeats things that ghosts say.
• Champeen, Preshy and Rafferty being the judge panel.
• "Fred from Super Chicken and Fred from Scooby-Doo mash-up costume!"
• The return of "two-thous-AND"
• Actual very, very accurate Chuck Jones smears

An excellent use of the entire cast, and a perfect way to completely upset the natural order-- in a way that I thought they'd already done to their nth degree with Which Ween 'Stumes. What I love about things like this and the latest Marzipan's Answering Machine is that it feels a bit like Homestar reclaiming itself whenever it feels like some thing has become obligatory, reinstating their control on what they can or can't do. So grateful Homestar can be whatever it wants to be.

(EDIT: Er, also, anyone notice those funky blink animation errors near the beginning? Felt like Homestar's face was getting datamoshed.)

A Thanksg-eve-ing delight!! Fanstumes 2023!!

• Immediate convolution of the Rondonny/Ronjohnny/Ronnyronny/Ronnymonny joke -- plus, Strong Bad's strange new sultry eyes + almost animatronic posture on the contestant platform
• Knock-off Cow Lamp turning into a Midwestern mom
• Lumpyworse for the universe
• They didn't bring it up, but I think the Chimeaux Bardeaux having some random overturned folding chair on the rooftop is hilarious. I don't know a lot about Paris, but I feel like this might've been a picture taken in Canada. Just some gut feeling... ... Because of the folding chair.
• The "see through floormat" picture reminds me of that Canadian invisibility cloaking device. Yes, please, stay invisible, Strong Bad-costume-attempt Homestar. (Speaking of, can't believe this is the first Halloweener costume we've gotten. The 'Stume commune' is eating good tonight! [And tomorrow!])
• Ending with perhaps the most obscure costume that's ever been on this toon -- and that's counting Sketchbook rejects. Fans never fail.

I always look forward to these.

Some great costumes this year, but I wish it was longer.

Guess they aren't getting many submissions these days...
