On Monday I have a meeting with the Marketing director of the local children's hospital. Not really sure if it could be considered a job interview, but it is at least a chance for me to make an initial contact for a possible job once I'm done with college in December.

I just got my driver's license today. I was also able to acquire a boating license. I'm legal both on the streets and the waters...

Boating liscense? Huh. My friend owns a boat and asked me recently if I'd like to pilot it. I told him I don't have a liscense, but he told me that so long as I have a driver's liscense I was good to go. Maybe the laws are different in my state... Congrats on the newfound freedom, so long as gas prices don't kill you, you'll enjoy it! |

Thanks. Yeah, in Alabama, a license is required to operate a vessel. Back before the early 90's, anyone even without a driver's license could operate a boat, as long as they were 12 or over and accompanied by someone over 14 I think. After a bunch of boating fatalities, the laws were changed. |

As I understand, the laws in Michigan (as of a few years ago) were that if you were under 18, you had to get a license to drive like a ski boat or a boat used on a small lake. If you're over 18, I'm not sure if you need a driver's license, but I guess you would. If you're under 18, you also have to take a bunch of classes, sorta like driver's ed (boater's ed?). I'd imagine for something like yachts or charter fishing boats you'd need an actual license, as those are a bit bigger to drive on a lake. |

Gotcha. Yeah, when I went out boating with my friend he said all I needed was my driver's liscense, so off I went piloting the vessel. |
