this is devoted to those who believe something is a sport when others disagree. here is a list and why. feel free to add, agree or disagree.
Robotic combat: although i am a fan of robotic combat, it is not a sport. too much fire spewing, axe swinging, bot fliping action to be a "sport". it is an activity that is there for entertainment
Pro Wrestling: it is not a sport. although it does take physical endurance to fake it perfectly for a long time, it is not considered a sport. is lip-synching considered music?
Poker: not a sport. it is merely a game, for now. but over the past years, it is starting to be considered a sport by many. i expect that in about 10-15 years, there will be no question that this is a sport.
anyway, since Curling is a sport, Poker is a sport. - i disagree. although curling is not the most physical sport out there (i've seen people 5 times my age that can still play), you still need precision, strength, and endurance. ever tried sweeping a rock as hard as you can to make into the house? not as easy as it looks.
tractor pull: nope. nuh-uh. not in a million years.
mini-golf: marginaly considered a sport, but there really isn't any competition involved.
cheerleading: it is a sport as much as figure skating is.
spelling - no. i don't believe it is a sport. merely a test of wits.
and some new ones that i'm not sure of...
NASCAR/F1/motorcyle/dirtbike/any driving activity - i don't consider this a sport. although the competition is there, your basically telling amachine what to do and the machine does all the work.
Tubing (tube-ing) - i marginally don't consider it a sport. although you do need some uppper body strength and balance so you don't fall off.
Billiards - no. same reason as poker.
paper rock scissors - my school calls it a sport for some reason and we had a competition last year. but it is merely a game of chance and you really need no experiece, talent, or strength to participate.

I've got 2 more to add to the list of ???'s -
A) Fishing
B) Eating Contests
I think they are both sports because they require skill and practice and you need physical endurance for eating that much!

Well, I think fishing depends on how good your lures and jigs are ( ) and then you just wait... and wait... and wait... ...and then you catch something. Yay. I say activity, not sport. Um... as far as eating contests... Um, no comment, as of yet.

Right! I totally agree with both of them. That.. Hiraku-goo-goo-nawa guy, is of course an eating contest god. In his own words, he said you literally have to "Train your stomach" to eat like him. Eating contests are fun to watch too, and you'll never know who's going to bend over and dizzily mope in stomach pain. Fishing = DEFINATLEY a sport. It requires so much "peace" of mind and concentration. Picking bait is almost like choosing weapons before going onto the battlefield. Boring to watch, but yeah, there can be some serious fishing action sometimes. Some questionable games displayed as "Sports": Darts: Call it anything you want; I call it darts. Why? Because it IS darts. It meets thw qualifications of a sport, but c'mon, targets are what archery is for. Plus, the people who play are like, so close to the target. I know there's all these terms, like hits and busts and crud, but man, It's just not exciting at all. It's like going to six flags, and watching other people play the cruddy dart games. Big deal. Billards: Mentioned before, but I have something to add. The new show known as "Ballbreakers" has definatley hyped up this game a bit. There's bets everywhere..it's like wall street on a pool table. I also think regular billards is a sport, no matter what others say. It really calls for some serious concenstration, so I find it kind of entertaining to watch. I don't really know exactly why, but it's a very unique game to me. Anyone can create a game that involves wacking a ball with a stick. Of course, striking it in the center is much more fun.

Hmm... I dont think Robotic wrestling is really a sport, it's more of a hobby.
Pro wrestling: Sweaty, therefore it's a sport.. no need to say more.
Poker: Tough one to decide on, but I would have to go with sport on this one.

Uh, you can gamble (place bets) on most sports... so, does that make those not sports also?

Finally someone else that knows about Geocaching! It's like hiking but you get to find something. But I wouldn't call this a sport. I would call this something to do with your extra time. Good thing to do the kids with kind of thing.
