I'm thinking I'll get the PS3, reports say that the new cell system thingy will make it far superior to the x-box that looks round.
Oooh, willy wonka reference!

Eh, I beleive nothing untill Microsoft itself comfrims it. There is a rumor in the latest Xbox Magazine that it will be called "Xbox next". Either way both these names suck. . The machine can stand upright and hollows in at the middle, like it's "sucking in its cheeks," our source told us today. To this I can only say 'WHAT??'

unless it comes out with a REALLY tricked out Halo 3.
Even then, i think i would only rent the system and the game. there's no way i'm getting this...this...ball that people are hooking into their TV's.
I assume your talking about the ball like picture shown earlier. That is a fake pictures. It is not actually gonna look like that (it may look similar tho. who knows? ) Now THAT's a name. Revolution screams cutting-edge video game console advances. Yeah. I love the name Revoloution. Which is practically a first. Because the only other name i ever like was Genesis. That was a cool name (at the time). Unlike gamecube, i actually prefer the system's temporary name. (Dolphin was such a stupid name.) I think it should be called Xboux, for all those European people out there.
No where in the entire earth is "box" spelt "boux". At least to my knowledge.

ACTUALLY, I just hacked microsfot's site!!! (Darn easy, too. They did't have the latest anti-virus patch.) In it, along with that crazy picture of barbara in marketing at the christmas party, (which I WILL NOT show, for the children's sake), I found that the picture of the silver case is actually a clever decoy. The real image is VERY different. Hopefully this will end some confusion about the dimensions and shape, Though the only other thing I can confirm is that the controllers are indeed wireless. http://img139.echo.cx/my.php?image=xboxbill6eg.png

Some fun things to do if it ends up being sphere-shaped:
*XBox basketball *XBox Kickball *XBox Soccer *XBox bowling *XBox catch *XBox four square *And my favorite: stair racing.
Isn't it nice to know that microsoft expects you to pay at least $400 to go outside and have fun with a glorified four square ball?
NOTE: I don't hate microsoft. I just like to poke fun at stuff. Honest. I like the current XBox. I wonder if it will go sphere shaped. It looks like microsoft's copyig ideas from sony and nintendo. It has a 3 in the title, and it's shaped like a geometrical shape. We'll see how the final package turns out.

True that i think it is a stupid name but i still base my opinions on the system on five simple facts. That 1) It is being released to soon. 2) It will have inferior specs against Revoloution and PS3. 3) The price will be the same as the other systems. 4) that XBOX 360, like XBOX will most likely sell in NA and maybe europe, while completely failing in Japan (where most gaming occurs). and 5) That is made by microsoft (which is pure evil and is bent on world domination).

Yes, it is expected to come out at the end of this year. Do I have to remind you all how the dreamcast released early? But, anyway, the people that had one, loved the dreamcast.

i agree whole - heartedly. i'll take Windows over Mac, but, after making jillions in PCs, does Microsoft really have to mess with the console world? how much more $$$ do they need?[quote author=Alexisonfire

I'm amused by all the Xbox haters in this thread. I live near Seattle and if they wanted to dominte he world, they would start here. *Looks outside* Nope, not dominated yet.

REBUTTAL TIME!
True that i think it is a stupid name but i still base my opinions on the system on five simple facts. That:
1) It is being released to soon.
I don't think this will be too big of a handicap. They're getting a head start on the market. If anyone wants to get a next gen console for the next year, they'll only have one choice. As much as a handicap as it may seem, it has its equal advantages. No one seems to complain that the DS came out 6 months before the PSP, and both are doing fine, so early doesn't always equal failure.
2) It will have inferior specs against Revoloution and PS3.
This statement's not valid in any respect. Official specs haven't been released for either system (Rev. or PS3), although rumored PS3 specs have been proven to be very similar to 360 specs from certain view points. Only time will tell. (After all, PS2 has the worst specs out of all 3 major consoles, and it's in the #1 spot right now).
3) The price will be the same as the other systems.
And your point on this one is..? Price doesn't make or break a system unless it's extremely overrpiced. The PSP is $100 more than it's main competitor, yet it's selling equally as well (believe it or not, it's outsold the DS the last couple of weeks).
4) that XBOX 360, like XBOX will most likely sell in NA and maybe europe, while completely failing in Japan (where most gaming occurs).
Again, I fail to see the point of this one. Microsoft has actually signed several exlusive deals with game complanies, like Mistwalker, to produce games that appeal to the Japanese market. Besides, how does this affect YOU? Is anyone going to skip out on buying it because it's failing over seas? I don't think so....
5) That is made by microsoft (which is pure evil and is bent on world domination).
Bias, pure and simple. If anyone's bent on world domination, it's EA.

REBUTTAL OF THE REBUTTAL TIME! All of your points were valid, except those which I point out here. (believe it or not, [the PSP] outsold the DS the last couple of weeks).
NO WAY! You mean a new system actualy sold MORE than a system that's old news?! Who'da thunk it!?[/sarcasm] Ok, so that was obviously off-topic, but I just wanted to point out the rediculousness of that statement. That is very believeable just because of logic. A newer system will allways sell more than it's older compeditor, at least for a time. If anyone's bent on world domination, it's EA.
Sure, just because they have been sucessfull enough to dominate a market makes them "Bent on world domination". That's just crap, and not true. They are sucessfull because they make a great product, and market it better than thier compeditors. Now where have I heard that before? Oh right. Microsoft. The company you appear to be defending for the very same reason. That's bias too, my good sir.
Microsoft will deside weather this will be a pro or con. They'll have to do several things... 1) Convince smart buyers and Sony/Nintendo fanboys that their system is better than a system that's not even on the market yet! 2) Release enough good games to make an early purchase worth while. Remember the Gamecube's release? Not a very large selection of games kept me from buying until the price reduction to $99. If Microsoft does that, the Profit Margin will slip once they reduce the price. If they release enough games right off the bat, more people will buy right off the bat. That will be a HUGE factor. 3) Make a controler size that is reasonable. That was a big turn off before they made the smaller version. 4) Convince people that think Microsoft is bent on world domination that the Xbox 360 won't brainwash them.

Rebuttal of the rebuttal of the rebuttal
you said what? EA good!? Besides burnout 3... IMO no. I mean i've hated them ever since they destroyed my favourite company. WESTWOOD! I still play Red alert 2 like its a drug. but meh I just had to think of a rebuttal of the rebuttal.......
anyways im gonna wait untill all the consoles come out before a make too many judgements but ive already decided im probably not gonna buy a ps3, dag yo sony sold me a defaulty ps2 which scrathed two disks and forced me to buy a new one. i did my dag yo research and found out that they could repair it for free "in america" but i live in australia and i found a sony place that could fix it, but it cost 200 bucks australian and it probably wasn't going to stay fixed for a while. dag yo cheepos.

NO WAY! You mean a new system actualy sold MORE than a system that's old news?! Who'da thunk it!?[/sarcasm] I wasn't trying to point out that newer systems sell better, I was trying to show that price doesn't matter when it comes to selling a system. I guess I should have used a different example, for instance, how the PS2 outsold the Gamecube by far, even though it was more expensive, and had come out many, many months earlier. In reality, it could go either way; failure or success, we'll just have to wait and see (like you said, selling has way more to do with the games and marketing).
That's bias too, my good sir. xD Guys, calm down. I'm not trying to "defend" Microsoft or anything, I was just pointing out some of the flaws in his logic. And that bit about EA being bent on world domination, I was taking a joking jab at EA. Indeed, from the perspective of some people, they ARE trying to take over, at the least, the video game industry (buying tons of studios, buying the exclusive rights to several sports, etc.). However, I wholeheartedly agree with you on that; they're on top simply because they've earned it. In no way am I trying to say that I hate EA. Far from it; I enjoy tons of the games they put out. (The only quibble I have with them is that they treat their employees like crap, although that's not really relevant in this discussion). (Here's hoping that that paragraph doesn't make me sound too much of a hypocrite. You guys have to realize that the EA thing was just a joke, a poorly executed one at that.) Other than that, I pretty much agree with everything else. Now that I look at it, I think our opinions are pretty much the same on most of this stuff, it's just that my faulty wording and poor examples led you to misinterpret some stuff. Also something I'd like to mention: I enjoy debating stuff on this forum. The other one I go to, my "home base," or so I'd call it, is dedicated to video games, so most of the people there are very educated on the subject. (unfortunately, that makes it hard to debate, since most of us have the exact same, mostly unbiased, opinions).
