I completely forgot to watch the 24 parody of Simpsons. I'll have to catch it online somehow.
The season finale was definitely an emotional one for Jack, rescuing his nephew, leaving his father to die, and saying goodbye to Audrey. The ending definitely showed the possibility of Jack being in another city next season, as that's what the writers and executive producers have been talking about. I agree too, not their best season, but not their worst. I'd say their worst is Season 1, and that's only because they've just gotten so much better (Season 1 is great).

Just something I thought might interest other 24 fans... http://www.fox.com/programming/returning/24.htmThis is the document that announces 24's return for the Winter 2008 season. I thought this was noteworthy because it says that two of 24's beloved regulars will show up next season. According to that link, Mary Lynn Rajskub and James Morrison will return as Chloe O'Brian and Bill Buchanan, respectively.

From TVGuide.com. This clears up some of the confusion regarding the season finale. Question: Hey, what's the deal with no "long dead" character returning "with a vengeance" in 24's finale, as reported earlier in TV Guide? I was all wound up to have Tony Almeida back, and no such person showed up!— Tom Ausiello: OK, here's the straight scoop: I know for a fact that producers very briefly considered bringing Tony back from the dead in the finale's closing moments. Ultimately, however, they decided that such a twist would violate the premise of the series. And as cool as it would've been to have Tony back, I believe they made the right decision.

Wow, I just now noticed 'Pressio's last post. I had some news to share, but I'll comment on 'Pressio's post first.
Bringing back Tony would have been a cool for-the-fans moment, but honestly it would have made things so much worse. Explaining how Tony survived all the drugs that Henderson shot into him from last season would have truly stretched things even more than they already have. And this next statement leads into the news. According to Ausiello, producers thought about having Tony come back to be the villian for Season 7, but decided not to, instead deciding that Gary Oldman (Sirius! Gordon!) would be a much better villain. Gary Oldman = ratings.
Okay, now for the news and such:
*The president for Season 7 will be a female, though not Geena Davis. Instead, Cherry Jones, best known for her Broadway work and for the films Perfect Storm, Ocean's Twelve, Signs, and The Village, will play President Allison Taylor. *This is, in a sense, a reboot in terms of location and personell. *The villian isn't a terrorist at all, but someone who wants to regain his stature *Season 7 will focus on smaller and more personal story lines *Season 7 takes place three years after 6 and will take place entirely in Washington, D.C. Jack will not be in hiding and won't have an alias, but will be working a job that he enjoys that doesn't involve the government *CTU has been disbanded by the government (*gasps!*) *There will be a new female FBI agent *Logan is NOT dead (shame) and may return for Season 7 (more shame) *Audrey may return in Season 7 as well

This makes me happy, but it will probably infuriate everyone else.Yeah, I'm a huge Tony fan. But what's not to like? Nothing, that's what. From what I read elsewhere, he has changed dramatically from the character we knew earlier. Does that mean he might be a bad guy? (I've heard that rumour elsewhere online). I really don't want him to be turned into a psycho bad guy, though I can easily see them going in that direction. Somehow, I don't think Tony will necessarily be helping out Jack the way he used to. But then again...they've done Jack-having-to-kill-someone-he-was-friends-with so many times already (most recently with Curtis in Season 6). Since the show is being so thoroughly revamped, I hope the creators can think of new, exciting things to do with the character.

If they can pull off his death not really being a death in a believable fashion, then I will be very happy. If they don't explain it at all and it's just like "o hai, yah, that stab to teh heart wasn't so bad. lolol" then heads will roll.

They had toyed with the idea of Tony coming back at the end of Season 6, and they alluded to it in some sort of press statement or scoop given to Auseillo about a character returning from the dead with a vengeance, but they couldn't figure out how to make it work. If they can do this in a realistic way, I'll be happy; if not, then they should have left him dead.

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking Tony will be the villain. Especially since the bad guy has been described as someone trying to "regain their stature in the world" after doing something really bad. Don't do it, Tony. Don't go to the dark side.
Also, does anyone else find it a little weird that the show is pretty much being completely rebooted (new city, new characters, no CTU), yet out of nowhere they're bringing back Tony, a character who hasn't appeared since the 5th season? Not that I'm complaining.
And finally (for all the Teatimes out there), there are (albeit, uncomfirmed) rumours of Michelle Dessler making a comeback as well. Now that would be a little ridiculous. Ridiculous/foxy.

Even with the complete rehaul, I'd be surprised if they didn't bring back a few of the major old characters, like Chloe and Buchanan. And wasn't Logan already announced to make an appearance as well? As for Michelle coming back...yeah, I think that's a stretch. Bringing one person back from a shady, anticlimactic death would be one thing. But bringing back a second person who was at point blank of an explosion in the same season would just be...soap opera like.

They had thought about having Tony as the villian this season, but I believe they decided not to do that. The only thing we know about the "villain" is that he really isn't a villain. How that works I don't know. Then again, this was before they completely scrapped the storyline they had for this season, so who knows? There are rumors of Michelle coming back, but considering Reiko has a stint on E.R., I don't know how likely that would be.
The only characters from Season 6 confirmed to be back are Jack, Chloe, and Buchanan.
And, Teatime, I think instead of soap opera-like, I think you're thinking more "comic book-like."

New trailer is up at 24trailer.com. Don't read any more of this post if you haven't seen the trailer yet. DO IT! The show...looks different. Like it looks like it's been shot differently, like...more cinematic. I'm not sure how much I like Tony being a bad guy... . But yeah, I hope he's undercover, but somehow I doubt it. I like how it's not just a cookie-cutter villain holding onto a generic dangerous weapon. It does still look like a complete reboot in terms of cast (you only see Chloe and Buchanan for like, 2 seconds), so I'm definitely curious where this new season is going.

I'm not sure how much I like Tony being a bald guy... . Fixed. So...this piqued my interest. I think there is incredibly high potential for Tony's character being really delved into, and I'm going to maintain optimism that this is all done well.

Wow. Amazing.
'Pressio, I agree with you. It does look as though it's being shot different. There's sort of a blue filter on it, whereas before it was like an orange filter, where everything came out slightly orange. I like it; it re-inforces the fact that things are totally different.
It's gonna be weird not having CTU. CTU was such an integral part of 24, so to have 24 without CTU is bizarre. I barely saw Chloe and I didn't even recognize Buchanan. They've got their work cut out for them in explaining how Tony survived all those drugs Henderson shot into him, and why he's doing what he's doing. Maybe it's out of vengeance for failing to protect Michelle.
Also, for anyone that's seen D3: The Mighty Ducks, the guy that played the coach of the Ducks is one of the agents. He's the one that tells the female agent to handle Jack.
