I was just about to post the same thing, anakin. I guess we'll have to wait longer to find out what the deal with Tony is.  Undecided

Bump.

So I was watching TV and saw a commercial that said, you 24 fans might know this but, 24 returns on November 23 with a 2 hour prequel to Day 7, 24: Redemption.

My thoughts on 24: Redemption. Spoilers ahead. Duh.

This was definitely a teaser for Season 7. No doubt about it. This was just to whet our appetites for Season 7, as well as make it so that we don't go quite two years without any 24. Really, the purpose of this movie was to set the stage for the new season, which it does just fine.

The funny thing is, in a sense, this is kinda like Episodes I-III of Star Wars, except we don't really know what happens afterwards, only somewhat. We know that Day 7 starts off with Jack in front of a Senate panel and that he did not want to be there. We find out how he ends up getting there here. We also see the transition between Daniels and the new Prez Allison Taylor (no word on Wayne Palmer, or for that matter John Keeler). We see the real baddie of Day 7, Jon Voight, but no Tony Almeida, which is too bad as that would have been a great tease at the end to see Tony watching the inauguration. This had several moments that just made you gasp, but I'd have to say none of the normal 24 shockers, but that's okay with me. I'd rather them just tease me now and save all the twists for the season. We still get some amazing action though, further proof that Chuck Norris doesn't hold a candle to Jack Bauer.

What's good about this is that it does set up Season 7, so that for the season, they don't have to take time explaining things to the audience. They can just jump into the story and let us know what's happened since Redemption. This works very well.

Of interesting note is that people can go out and get the DVD Tuesday. Best Buy will have an exclusive three-disc edition. If money wasn't so tight for me I would so get it in a heartbeat. Ah well.

For being 24, it delivers well. For being such a tease, it delivers very well. For setting up Season 7, it's perfect. For those reasons, I give it a 9.2, or a 4...out of 5.

I thought it was a pretty good idea in the end. It's nice that the show is doing something different, since Season 6 relied a lot on retreading familiar plot elements and such. I think that it's nice to have this sort of extensive prequel; since so few characters are coming back next season, it's good to get introduced to some of the new faces before the action starts.

I'm with anakin though. A little Tony would have been nice. I still really hope they explain his reappearance in a way that makes sense. I'll be kinda ticked off if they just say that he was "bad the whole time", because I think that cheapens some of the show's best moments in the 3rd and 4th seasons.

Finally watched this the other night. It was good, despite the fact that I originally thought it was a prequel, taking place before season 1, and when I saw Tom Lennox, I was all "...wat."

But it was still a fun watch. I don't care if 24 isn't the deepest show on TV, it's just plain entertaining.

Well, it was a prequel. Just to Season 7, not 1.

Out of curiousity, what would you say is the deepest show on TV? I'm not saying 24 is, I'm just curious.

Dexter.

I only bring it up because, at a rather liberal college, I've met a lot of people who consider 24 mindless pro-American propaganda. Meh. I honestly don't care one way or another, the show gets my adrenaline pumping, that's why I enjoy it.

Lol, where do you go? I would expect that from Depressio's school, but not a school in the Boston area. Sounds like being pro-American is frowned on wherever you go.

And I've heard good things about Dexter. Too bad I don't get Showtime. Or HBO.
