Hey, I've had trisktaidekaphobia memorized. I may not be able to say it or spell it, but when I see the word I know what it means (thanks to my English teacher). I do find it a little hard to believe he could memorize the harder word, but hey, people have memorized pi to the 100th digit or more, so it is possible.

In fairness to the longest word in the medical English language, it can be shortened to the slightly less palatable pneumoconiosis. I learned to spell pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis from my best friend. It was a two point bonus word in a fourth grade spelling test. We also had otorhinolaryngologist and antidisestablishmentarianism on that test. Ah memories. Personally, my favorite word is "spry." The four letter word that sounds like it should have three letters. But spy and pry are words already, sry is the abbreviation for sorry (which truly needs no shortened form, if you ask me), and spr is short for Spring. Vulgate English is overrated!
Now...back to the topic at hand. Any Ayn Rand fans in the house? I certainly am not one.

Ayn Rand is my hero. Do you not like her writing style, or just disagree with her philosophies?

I find it very slow going. I have no problem with her philosophy. I find myself slogging through an unending linguistic assault, and then I end up not liking what I found after the trek.

Suprizingly, I know all of those words except 'spry'. My favourite words are monosyllabic, pneumonoultramicroscopicsylicovolcaniconosis, trisktaidekaphobia, spontainious, and combustion.

On the topic of Ayn Rand, I'm reading The Fountainhead for school right now. So far, it's been pretty good. Some parts do get boring, and slow, but I think all books have that. I'm not sure if I agree with her ideas, but the story's been pretty good, in my opinion. Well...at least, it's a lot better than some of the other books I've read for school...

Did you mean polysyllabic? As to Ms. Rand...Ah well, you're all entitled to you're own opinions. My opinion is that it's crap, but that's just me.

No, pollysyllamic is muliple syllables, while monosyllabic is one syllable

That being said, you did reference five polysyllabic words to prove your point, or at least that is how you punctuated it.
I will now pull out the admin stick of justice (tm) to thwack this here topic back to its original purpose.

I haven't read Fountainhead. "Atlas Shrugged" was the first book of hers I read, and I loved it. I read all 1000+ pages in under a month, which was a pretty big accomplishment for me because generally I'm a slow reader (even though I read a lot of books, it takes me like 2 minutes to read a page while my friends say it takes them like 30 seconds.) I later read Anthem, and enjoyed that one a ton, too.

I'm just a little crazy.

I've read alot of books and liked them ALL (seriously) except for one. Maya Daughter of the Nile SUCKED. It was hard to follow and might've been good but... it just sucked. I felt like my heart should've fluttered over the male lead but he just seemed fake to me.

At the risk of having hate mail thrown at high velocity into my PM box...let me just say that I find Robert Jordan's work to be unimaginative slow-going drivel. It is now my intention to go hide away from the internet for several hours.
That's really too bad...I've found the wheel of time to be an amazing set of books. The first one is admittedly awful for at least 200 pages. but thats really only 1% of the series if you think you can trudge through a couple hours of hideous boredom then my advice is to definitely check it out.
