I just saw the Snowboarding qualifying stuff. And the person I was going for (Shaun White) is 6 with his first run. If his board hadn't hit the side of the halfpipe he would be in first. EDIT: Mr. White got 1st in the qualify on his second run. Yah!!!!

I'm sorry, guys, but the Olympics bore me.
I was watching the snowboarding last night, and even that was boring. I don't know why, but it just was. Everyone was just doing the same thing over and over, and the guys that didn't fall got medals. Yeah, I know, 1080°'s are extremely hard to do, but everyone there did one, and therefore, I found the whole event boring.
One of the speed skating events were also on. That was more exciting than the snowboarding, but still not as good as everyone's making them sound.
So, again, sorry for popping in just to disagree with all of you.

Oh, nice try Lindsey, all you needed to do was coast to the finish line, and gold medal for you. Stupid, stupid. Why did you have to be so hot-headed and try to hotdog it? At least you still won silver, shessh.

Yeah, I was just going to comment on that. Say what she wants, she was showboating, and deserved to crash and lose the gold. Pulling a stunt like that is ok in Winter X, but this is the Olympics, show some class. I believe that today is the first day of Bobsled coverage on NBC, I've been waiting all week for it! Edit: So, I'm watching some women's curling right now, USA v. Italy. I need to make a couple of observations: 1- Curling is actually pretty interesting. There's a lot more strategy put into it than I thought there was. The sport looks like it's one where it takes a lot of work to get good at it. The stereotypes we here in the US have of this sport are sort of overkill, curling is something I wouldn't mind watching more often. 2- Some of the women on both the US and the Italian women's team are hot! 'Nuff said.

When I first started playing the sport, i thought "well this is simple. Get it close to the button and that is a good shot. Get the other team's rock out, and that's a good shot". But now I'm beginning to see how much strategy is actually involved. Its weird how it took me 4 years to realize how much I didn't understand about the sport. I geuss the old saying is true: The more you know, the more apparent it is that you know nothing. Or something like that. Four big upsets happened in the Olympics while I was away. First was the hotdogging in that Women's snowboarding event. But also, both Canadians in that match wiped out early on. One finished, but the other flew right in to the fence pretty hard. Another upset was Japan's win against Canada in Women's curling. This is still round robin games but still, Canada is a very big competitor when it comes to curling. While Japan is very new to the sport. It's like the Chinese beating the Russians in mens hockey team. It just doesn't happen. The other two upsets were both in Hockeyland. First, which most of you may or may not of heard, the Swedes beat out the Americans in Womens hockey. This is unheard of. This is so completely impossible... But it happened. There has never been a final game in an international Women's hockey competition that did not have the Canadians vs the Americans in the history of the sport. That is because there are more women hockey players in Canada or the Us then in all of the other countries combined. It is more of a North American sport than an International sport. But this victory for the Swedes will help this sport spread throughout the rest of the world. Hopefully. The last upset, and the most recent, was the Swiss's win over Canada in Mens hockey. This is an historic moment in Hockey history. Because Canada has never lost to Switzerland. Ever. In, i think, 45 games they have faced each other, Canada has won them all. This is very upsetting to me and my fellow Canadians, but at least they still have a shot at the gold since this is only Round Robin 2- Some of the women on both the US and the Italian women's team are hot! 'Nuff said.
Amen to that. Weird how that is though. Maybe it has to do with the fact that Curling is practically the only olympic sport where the participants aren't wearing helmets and what not...

Yeah, that was a huge loss, but Women's Hockey has only been in the Olympics since 1998, so it's still relatively young as an Olympic sport. But, yeah, it still was an amazingly huge upset. I'm still patiently waiting for the 4 Man Bobsled to kick off, that's my favorite event of all time, at least in terms of the Winter Olympics.

Yes, this is in fact only the third appearance of Women's Hockey at the Olympics, but there are World Championships held every year since, i think, 1991.

I knew they were doing official international competition for longer than the 8 years Women's Hockey has been in the Olympics, but I didn't think it had been going on since '91! There's my lesson learned for the day!

Okay, chaps, I need some help.
Me and some of my compatriots are working on a video project, and our best chance is with making fun of the Winter Olympics. We're talking on possibly "The Tomato" and the showboating skater, but we need other idea.
What are some of the most amazing/hilarious/disappointing moments of the Torino Winter Olympics thus far?
Hurry, friends: Time is of the essence. I'd love to get some feedback by Monday, so I can write this.

Well, when that one chick from the US decided to showboat and pull a trick off the second to last jump in Women's Snowboard cross, and then did a faceplant, causing her to lose the gold medal, and wind up with silver, that was rather becoming.

Do... do you do this 'reading' thing? I tried it once, and when I did, I noticed that I HAD ALREADY MENTIONED THAT. While that IS good, and I would like to hear some of the forum's personal favorite moments, we got our answers from elsewhere on teh intarnets.

Yeah, I read, which is why I posted about the "showboating snowboarder", not the "showboating skater" that you mentioned. the showboating skater
