Ok, guys and gals. I'm sure you've noticed that we now have Karma settings turned on. This is a test, for now. We will leave them turned on for the rest of this week. After that week is up, we'll make a choice whether to keep it going, or turn it back off. Before I go any further, I'd like to make on thing clear. This is meant to be something fun. So please, please do not get bent out of shape if you don't like your karma level. If people can't be mature with this, it will not make it past this test stage. Now, first I will explain how things are setup currently. As of now, and for the rest of this test, every person can give one Karma vote every 24 hours, per person. That means, if you make a vote right now for Member X, you will not be able to make another vote for him for 24 hours. BUT, in the meantime, I can go give a vote to Member Y and Member Z. This can be sort of confusing to understand, if you want me to explain it again, just ask. RULES:1. We will not tolerate any posts telling/asking other members to give a certain member karma votes. In other words, no posts like, "Hey everybody, go give Member X a positive vote!" Or no, "Hey, if you guys go give Member Y a negative vote, I'll give you a positive vote!" If we see any of this going on, probation will be swift. 2. Karma is supposed to be fun, so keep it that way. TIPS:1. Just in case you are completely new to Karma, here is how you vote: 2. Karma is not a popularity contest. When giving Karma votes, try not to do it based off of what you think about the person, do it based off of what you think about their post. If you like a post from someone, give it a positive Karma vote. If you don't like a post from someone, give it a negative Karma vote. But, don't base it off of who makes the post.
Remember guys, this is just a test. After this week, we will make a call if we want to keep it or lose it. If we do keep it, you might see some changes to the settings. If you've got any questions, please feel free to ask, otherwise, have fun!

Please give us your thoughts and feelings about the Karma. If you think we should keep it, why? And what changes would you like to be made? If you want to scrap it after the test, why?

I like the idea of this, but the part is the competition and people becoming jealous that i dont like very much. But like you said, let's just give it some time.

I think it's a little weird and useless, but I never let a good idea down without letting it go through for a while. Let's keep this train wreck arollin'!

I love it, I think it helps people realise what other people think of them.

Ok, I just thought it would be good to say this...
On a bit of a different note, if we keep Karma. I'm thinking if turning it down a bit, and limiting the number of votes we can give in a week to a maximum of 3 per week. What would you guys think about that, if we wind up keeping it?

I don't like the idea of limiting how much a person can do. Maybe if you could only vote for a certain person 3 times a week... but I think that what we have now might work for a while.

The Merging is complete.

I think that'd be better. It seems lame when its being used so frequently. Hopefully it will not be used every five seconds later on...I think its better as a once in a while thing.

I think it should be cranked down...there seem to be way too many votes for person all ready, and tomorrow all that will double...I think we should have it so you can only vote once a day, period. That way if you get a karma point it's more of a special occasion, since you won't really be getting 12 a day or whatever.

Yeah, I'd love to have it so someone can vote ONLY one time a day- period. But, I don't think it's possible to do that. We can try to figure out that kind of stuff if we decide to keep Karma, though.
For now, let's keep feedback coming in!

Other places I've seen that have Karma have it set to one karma vote per hour, total, and that seems to work pretty well. That way, someone can't just go passing out a karma vote to every other person they see, they have to actually think about whether they want to 'waste' their vote for that hour or not.

Yeah, but again, we can't do that with current settings. No matter what settings we put, you will still be able to vote for multiple people, within the specific time period.
