I suggest we do away with the whole having to wait 60 seconds before we can post/send pms, modify profile, etc. It can get annoying, and I don't think we really need it.

Do you really need to post that much? I think it's good in case anyone goes post crazy, or bumps a lot.
I don't mind it, at all.

I understand where you are both coming from. I also think that it can get annoying when you post, and then want to send a pm or change your profile. It gets annoying when you have to wait in order to do these other things. It would be very useful if we could just make it for when people are making posts, and not for modifying a profile, or sending a pm.

You kids today. Nothing is ever fast enough for you. You never take the time to just sit back for a split second and think to yourself how wonderful it is to even have the internet!
Look, I think that I would get real sick of certain people if we turned the flood walls off. I vote to keep it.

Agreed. It also helps to prevent you from accidently posting twice, which this function has stopped me from doing a couple times. Plus, if you it takes you less than 60 seconds to think of what you have to post and type it out, is it really worth posting?

Sorry guys...this is one thing that isn't going anywhere. I don't think that the IP limit can be limited solely to posting, but frankly if it could I wouldn't do it. With the influx of spamming bots, a ton of damage can be done in a very short amount of time if we take those filters off, and it's also helped us in the past when a member gets abusive. It greatly limits the scope of the clean up. It's a practical thing.

See, my only problem though is that often times it takes me more than 60 seconds to post again. I'll wait a full 60 seconds, heck longer even, and it goes "Last IP action was less than 60 seconds ago." That's what prompted this. If it was exactly 60 seconds, I wouldn't have a problem, but it's literally taken 5 minutes before I could post again.

Hmmm...that's glitchy. I'll look into it. I really don't know what to tell you.

That's because you keep on resetting the timer, I bet.

Bingo. From what I've noticed, if you try to post again before the full 60 seconds have passed, the timer starts over at 0 again. Example: I post. I try to post again 55 seconds later. The timer starts at 0 again. I wait another 55 seconds and try to post. The timer starts at 0. Before I know it, it's technically been two minutes since my last post, but I'm still not able to, because I've made the timer restart twice.

Ah, I see. Is this just a glitch in the timer, and if so, can it be fixed?

Uh, the only fix I can see is waiting a full 60 seconds, or thinking out your post for a while before hand.

In all seriousness, do you really need to post every single minute? Like, you have to keep mashing post reply until it works? I'm pretty sure the last thing to have happened on this forum that demanded that kind of attentions was... nothing. There is nothing so important on the forum that waiting a few extra seconds will ruin it.
