At the end of the game when you hit too many thing you get this screen:

Note: I didn't play for long so my score isn't great .

So I know this isn't a huge sighting but I figured "I haven't made a topic in a while". Also I recommend playing the game, it'll change your perspective in "side scrolling" shooters.

It was working last night.  It says 'Your Ship A Splode' when you die.

Thanks for the save there, yeah aprantly walagata decides that after a while any bmp should become a gif...sorry about that.
