Are you an opinionated gamer? Are you angry at all those people who say "I'm not going to read that huge block of text that you just wrote about F-Zero in the CGN thread?" Yeah. This is your thread.
The plan at this time is that every week, a new question will be posted in this thread, asking members to list their top 5 ____. If you choose to reply, feel free to post a suggestion for your own question to be answered by people next week. I'll put the suggested-questions up in the poll and we'll vote it up.
Make sure that your question can be answered by the average bhz-goer. So that means that you should probably stay away from "Best Quest 64 character" or "Favourite number I'm thinking of."
That being said, I'm going to get the ball rolling.
Question 1: Top 5 Nintendo Systems (Handhelds Included
Top 5 Nintendo Systems
5. Gamecube Double-edged sword here. Great graphics and hardware capabilities were almost completely squandered on absolutely abysmal 3rd party support and ridiculous stretches where not a single noteworthy title was released. The system gains some points for occasionally inventive uses for its old franchises (such as Metroid Prime). I'll give the Cube credit: when a good game was launched for this system, it was pretty much guaranteed to be really good.
4. Game Boy Nintendo's original portable edges out its descendents due to its original, inventive, and vast library of titles. SUre, there are truckloads of ridiculous NES ports and quick movie cash-ins, but the Game Boy also provided genuine classics, many of which are still being remade for today's portables. Tetris, Link's Awakening, Metroid II, and a little game called Pokemon made this one of Nintendo's most significant platforms of all time.
3. Nintendo 64 Despite a strong, innovative library that reinvented Nintendo's classics in 3D, the N64 ultimately lost a majority of the market share to Sony's PS1. Whether this was because of 3rd party support, graphic/sound capabilities, or Nintendo's ultimately ill-conceived decision to stick with the cartridge format, one cannot say. The N64 definitely delivered some classics, and many of its titles still top "best of all time" lists. Besides, in 1997, this was the system to own for 4 player Goldeneye.
2. NES The system that made gaming cool again. Following the collapse of Atari, the video game industry was in peril until this box showed up. Granted, some of its titles have aged pretty poorly over the years, but many classics are still just as playable now as they were 20 years ago. This was an era in which Nintendo was the undisputed gaming king, a position that they have since struggled to retain.
1. Super Nintendo Looking back, the SNES had everything that makes a system great. Excellent, consistent 1st party releases combined with superb 3rd party support makes this console still worth playing today. Graphically, the system was capable of some pretty beautiful visuals (for early-to-mid 90s). The SNES offered a diverse and incredible lineup of titles in nearly all genres, a feat that Nintendo has sadly been unable to live up to since this console.

5. DS - Many games have taken full advantage of dual screen/touch screen capabilities, and taken gaming to a new level.
4. Wii - I would have put this higher, but something about it doesn't seem as good as some of the other Nintendo systems.
3. Game Boy - Tetris. 'Nuff said.
2. NES - So many great games, and it really took gaming to a whole new level.
1. N64 - Just a great system. The transition into 3D was great, with games like Super Mario 64, Paper Mario, and Super Smash Bros.

Since my Nintendo experience started with the original Game Boy and my first Nintendo console experience was the Gamecube, here's my Top 5:
5) Nintendo 64 - This system had many great games like GoldenEye 007, OoT, MM, SSB, and others, but I never owned this system and the games I loved most that originated on system I first played on Gamecube, namely OoT and MM. GoldenEye 007, SSB, and others will be available (or rumored/most likely be) on the Wii's virtual console.
4) DS - A great system which will be made even better with the arrival of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl IN AMERICA! It would be higher if I had more games for it.
3) Gamecube - Many great titles on this system make this game my number 3. SSBM, Pokemon Colleseum, Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness, Chibi-Robo, Resident Evil 4, Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, Viewtiful Joe 2, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Wallace and Grommit: Project Zoo, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, and Luigi's Mansion make this system my favorite console of last generation.
2) Game Boy - The original Game boy that started all things Nintendo for me. Tetris, Kid Icarus, and several Pokemon games gives this handheld a special place in my heart. Also, the other Game Boys (excluding the Pocket and Micro) are sort of lumped into this spot as well.
1) Wii - Although I don't own one yet, I have played one. Very, very, very, infinite very good experience. SSBB and Pokemon Battle Revolution are two games I cannot wait to play. Also, my favorite game, Twilight Princess, was first released on this system.

When I post in a thread, the first thing I do is read the posts. If a question is posed, I try to answer that question instead of answering one that I just made up.
These are not what I think are the top 5, these are the ones that had the most direct importance to me:
5. Wii - I have had very little time with this system, but it seems to have a lot of potential, albeit slowly (MP3, where art thou?!)
4. SNES - I have had very little time with this system. However, no matter what game I randomly pick off the floor, I have yet to find a bad one. I will never be able to like a side-scrolling kirby until they make one that bests Kirby Superstar. 3. Gamecube - I love this console for the first/second party games. I'm not really sure what other games you can get for it, but I don't really need them. Wind Waker, Metroid Prime/2, and Pikmin/2 are some of my favorite games in recent memory. There are plenty of other good games out there, too. For example Donky Kong Jungle Beat (There's no real load times, so you can just breeze through without heavy thinking), Battalion Wars, Starfox: Assault, and Paper Mario 2.
2. Nintendo 64 - The first console I owned, as well as played. I was on a cruise ship and the hangout for the youngins had a couple 64s hooked up. I had had previous experience with the system thanks to a friend of mine, but when I got one all to myself with a copy of Banjo-Kazooie, I realized I desperately, urgently needed to own it.
So I stole it off the cruise ship.
Or I got one bundled with Pokemon snap for Christmas, whichever's most believable. The point is that in honor of this system I have set aside Spring Break as N64 week, which I fill with Jet Force Gemini, DK64, Mario Party (probably 3) and maybe a quick run-through of Ocarina of Time.
1. Gameboy/Color - What a Surprise to see you all the way up here. Although not an incredible stretch. I mean, this is the system that first brought me into Zelda, Pokemon (okay, well,), Metroid, and Mario games. You can probably guess that this is the first system I ever owned. Although I technically owned the Color, I played a lot of Original Gameboy games on it. One of my earliest video game memories is sitting in the kitchen next to the electrical outlet so that I could plug in my Game Boy, thus allowing me to continue Awakening Link indefinitely.

My top 5:
5. Game Boy- The games are fun on the go. Or anywhere. I used to take a flashlight and play in bed.
4. Game Cube- Super Smash Bros. Melee is fun.
3. N64- Wow. Three dimensions. For the first time. (Super Mario RPG seemed 3d to me though) I liked Super Mario 64, but I can't beat DK64.
2. NES- Super Mario Bros. 1 and 3 rocked. I liked the Laser Zapper. Most of the games are fun to play and it makes me feel good to play them. Oh, nostalgia.
1. SNES- Definitely the top. I love Super Mario RPG and Street Fighter 2 and Kirby Superstar. Oh, and the game I'm best at: Donkey Kong Country. The graphics are colorful and they're good for 16-bit.

I'm sorry I didn't see the word Nintendo. That's no reason to delete my entire post. It took me like 10 minutes to write. You could have at least replied saying that I did not answer the question correctly, and then I could have edited it to be correct.

Meh, I've seen some of your deleted comments in regards to posts I've made, and they weren't the most polite things ever. Saying I'm in the wrong is sort of like the pot calling the kettle black, doncha think?

Either way, deleting it completely (I wanted to read it, saw it before, didn't have the time) was a stupid decision, if you ask me.
And, because he said bad things about you, and then deleted them so other members couldn't see them (I'm willing to bet he didn't know you could see them), doesn't mean that you should delete his post completely. Either way, he never called you wrong, he said that the decision was wrong, and you deleting his post has no relation to deleted comments about you.
Yeah, I may be ranting, but it doesn't make any sense.

Ok, ok, ok. I deleted his entire post. Maybe it wasn't the best decision, but it's the one I made. At the time, I felt it was a good choice. However, it probably was not. If a similar situation were to pop up in the future, I would most likely not do the same thing. I made a mistake, and I am sorry, Gir. I would ask, though, that in the future, before spending 10 minutes writing something, you take a moment to re-read things to make sure you are posting on topic, and as such, not wasting 10 minutes of your time.
Now, because we are all human, and have all made mistakes, and all will make mistakes in the future, let's have this topic drop, and get back to the intended topic. Any further discussion about this can take place via PM.

Erm...so, how 'bout them Tigers?
Dang, wrong thread. And section.
Alright, alright. I'll list my reasons:
5. DS. Mario Kart online. That alone was enough of a reason for me to get a DS. Although, right now, due to me only having one DS game, I mainly use it to play GBA games. It's awesome to play my GBA games on it and be able to see everything clearly, especially in the dark. I still keep my original GBA, but only to play Game Boy/Game Boy Color games. All GBA games now get played on my DS.
4. GBA. This was my first Game Boy, and man, did I love it. I got the original type, which IMO is better than SP or Micro. I like how it more resembles a controller. It works better with my hands. I tried playing a game on my friend's SP, and it's just too small for my hands. The fact that there's no light up screen doesn't bother me, as I can play GBA games on my DS, which does have a light up screen. Although, I will admit it's annoying to try playing Link's Awakening in the dark holding a flashlight.
3. NES. I never owned an NES, but I played it enough times to love it. Yes there's the Mario games, but don't forget about the other great games. Paper Boy. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Excitebike. Zelda games. And, baseball was a lot of fun to play on it too.
2. SNES. I got this right after the N64 first came out, and I loved it a lot. Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, StarFox, Donkey Kong Country, Super Mario Kart, Earthworm Jim, Super Star Wars. Fantastic games, and there's still games for this system I'd love to play.
1. N64. My first system that I was really able to get games for. My first game was Rogue Squadron; quite fitting my first GC game was Rogue Leader. I also got DK 64, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, both Zelda games, WWF No Mercy, SSB, Mario Party (despite the stupid rotating control stick mini-games), StarFox 64, Jet Force Gemini, Gex 64, Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie, Paper Mario. I know there's still more games I'm forgetting about that I own or played. IMO, N64 is the top Nintendo system, which hopefully will be overthrown by the Wii.
