MLB 2007
« on: April 15, 2007, 05:48:06 pm »

Here we are again. It's the beginning of the new season of Major League Baseball. Predictions? Senses of foreboding? Guesses on how many games the Royals will win? All season long, come here to make fun of potthole if the Tigers don't do well. Too bad you won't get to, since they will.

What's that you ask? My predictions? I think the Red Sox will beat the Cardinals in the World Series again with a (at least partially) rejuvenated rotation and great closer.

Cards to the Series again?  No way.

I've been very happy with the Tigers so far.  Even though their bats have been lacking, they've still been able to win games, thanks to pitching (minus Fernando Rodney and Chad Durbin).  Once the Detroit hitters find their swings again, look out, because the Tigers will have a deadly combo of hitting and solid pitching.

Stros. The Stros are going to make a late run, swipe the pennant from the Brew Crew, then go on to oust the BoSox in the World Series.

I think that the Royals are going to make a serious comeback this season.  I am going to predict that they will nearly double their wins from last season, making it finally impossible to count on your hands alone.  Wink

No, but in all honesty, I think that the Red Sox have the possibility to do well.  However, I've thought that before of the Red Sox, and they've let me down in the past, so I'll just have to wait and see.

I'm rooting for the Cubs, who deserve to win more than the Red Sox did.

You are quite right about the Royals.  If they stay healthy, they will not be the pushover that they've been in years past.

Astros first six games while getting back in the groove... 1 win, 5 losses.

Astros last six games now that they're back in the groove... 5 wins, 1 loss.

Every year, the Astros turn it on at the end of the season. This year they started the end of the season on game 7. This is our year. Despite all good reasons why it won't.

I'm pretty sure Alexisonfire should receive one of those special-issue Canadian quarters in his image for that comment.

The greatest sporting moment in my life was being present at Comerica Park for the final game of the ALDS, when the Tigers knocked the Stankees out of the playoffs.  That was such a fun evening and a great moment.

I still find it hilarious that people always claim that the Yankees are doing well, when in reality they haven't done well since 1999.  Those darn New Yorkers...

Well, the Yanks should do well every year, considering they shell out way more than anyone else in salaries and pick up every random player who had a good year each offseason. Bobby  Abreu, anyone?
