For $150, that kit should NEVER have any crosstalk or dropped hits.

Ha.....The Ion was actually $300. I was subtracting my estimation of the max price for the regular rockband 2 drums from it to get 150. But yeah. Expensive. The kit is kind of a group-purchase with the family though, so it helps.

For a drum kit that costs $130 more than the actual bundle for the game (allegedly), it better be PERFECT.

It's a shame that you have to pay so much to get a perfect kit. I just hope that the one in the Rock Band 2 bundle is actually of passable quality.

Six 'New Rock Band' Albums coming and more new information

G4 just mailed in to let us know that they have just finished speaking to the PR co-ordinator for Harmonix and he's revealed the following: Six new full albums will be coming for the music game, a new full album will be out by end of August and Steely Dan's Bodhisattva will be the hardest song ever in the series and Harmonix plans to hit the 500 song mark for DLC by the end of the year.

  • Quote:
There will be six new, full albums announced for the music game by the end of the August. One is a metal record, one is alternative, one is a pop album. We don't know which albums they'll be, though, but Harmonix is genuinely excited by the new content.

A new, full album will be out by the end of August. We don't know what yet, but we asked if it was Rush's Moving Pictures, and Drake would neither confirm nor deny it.

Steely Dan's "Bodhisattva," included with Rock Band 2, is destined to be the most difficult guitar song ever in the series. Drake said the guitar part is "mathematically possible" to play, but, as yet, no one has been able to score 100% on the song. We're sure the legion of Rock Band 2 players out there will take this as a challenge come the release of the game in October!

Harmonix plans to hit the 500 song mark for DLC by the end of the year.[/i]

  • Holy crap, six albums means two in one month. 500 DLC songs by the end of the year is looking like it actually might come true.

Oh, and for those of you who don't know what you're in for on Bodhisattva, check out the custom and you'll get an idea:
    http://www.youtube.com/v/n3kk_aqES9M

That's allegedly the final guitar song, but it doesn't mean it's the hardest. Harmonix has some serious issues with tiering...I'm still expecting Painkiller to be the most difficult guitar song overall.

Oh, and I have no clue what the albums will be, but I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say that the metal album will be by Metallica. Next poster owes me a cookie if I'm right.

One has to wonder what the definition of "pop" is. Recently they've been releasing artists that are in RB2, so probably a full album from...Blondie? The Donnas? Paramuuuugggghhhh?

I'd pray for Franz Ferdinand, but I really doubt it.

I would mind The Donnas, but a Greatest Hits compilation would work better than an album in their case.
I don't know enough songs from Blondie to judge...and if a Paramore album showed up I'll have to commit ritualistic suicide. It's in my contract. =/

I'd love to see a full Franz Ferdinand album, but honestly I'd be satisfied if they just got "This Boy" and "You Could Have It So Much Better" (the song) in the game.

Either album would be good. I'd be a little uncomfortable with Michael, though.

I'm generally the one in my group of friends that does the singing, if you know what I mean.

Michael would be a fun one to spring on people at parties. So would Do You Want To.

I can see the look on people's faces now during their first plays of those songs...

EDIT: Now that I think about it, Riot! couldn't possibly be the pop album. Crushcrushcrush is DLC, and That's What You Get is on the Rock Band 2 disc. Can't release an album without two of the songs from it, right?

That's how I feel about Moving Pictures. As much as I love the album, we wouldn't get "vault editions" of Tom Sawyer and Limelight, or else they wouldn't really be Moving Pictures, right? So we wouldn't get Tom Sawyer or Limelight at all, even though having masters would be great. Also, no YYZ, due to lack of vocal support. Red Barchetta would be great, but I can see a lot of singers getting ticked off about The Camera Eye (GGaHT 2, perhaps?) and Witch Hunt would probably get... Baba O'Reilly syndrome. Ugh.

Also: WTH at solo, second solo, and outro of Bodhitsattva. Especially outro. '_', ... but it'll probably be a big rock ending, that's nice. but HOLY FREAKING (pardon my french) TRIPLETS OF HELL IN SECOND SOLO.

IMO, none of Rush's full albums would work very well in Rock Band. A Greatest Hits collection would be the best, and it would allow them to pass over instrumentals if needed).

Though, they haven't ruled out the possiblity of instrumentals. They even explain how it would work in a recent interview, but the link went dead. Sad

I really hope that the ending to Bodhisattva isn't covered up by the Big Rock Ending. If they cover up the hardest part of the song, there's no way it's gonna be the most difficult song in the game.

With the new interface it shouldn't matter, RB2 lets you organize the song menu by artist, then it sub-categorizes by album.

It does make sense because they could have the whole album together when Rock Band 2 comes out.

But I'd rather have a full album now as opposed to 9 songs and a "You'll get the whole thing when you buy the next game" note.

I'm actually kind of leaning towards bands that haven't yet made their Rock Band debut/aren't known for Rock Band 2. With stuff like Judas Priest and The Cars, Harmonix gave us entire albums of bands that weren't even featured in the game initially. I'm a little optimistic though: what better way to promote the benefits of DLC/forwards compatibility than by releasing some high profile albums right before the release of Rock Band 2?

I just hope they continue their philosophy of releasing albums that were influential to their respective genres.

I'd rather see Rust In Peace than All Hope Is Gone.

Hey uh, question: Why are the Bang Camaro songs in tier 9 if their both really easy (Rock Rebellion has like one moderately difficult at all part, and the solo is the only problem in Pleasure (Pleasure))?
