There's no originality in it at all.  It's a scene-for-scene parody of Spider-Man, and every single clip in that trailer had some kind of 9-year-old visual humor (running into something, getting hit on the head, glove sticking to face, pants falling down).  The title is supposed to be like Epic Movie or Scary Movie, making you expect something similar but falling far short of even those movies.  The title might have worked if compensated by the whole thing being done decently and perhaps aimed at the same audience superhero movies are for.  I'm not a big movie person, so I don't really know who I'd choose, but I bet this could have been great with some real actors.  It should also be an original story with parodies of every superhero.

All of what you say is definitely true, except for I think one point, which I'll get to in a sec. However, considering Spider-Man is my favorite superhero and comic book character, I'm willing to give this movie the benefit of the doubt. I'm sure there will be references to other superheroes and superhero movies, but the main focus will be the Spider-Man movies. Kinda like how the Star Wars episode of Family Guy was mainly a parody of Star Wars (duh!) but they did throw other things in there too. I'm willing to give this a chance.

As for that one point, it's concerning the whole "9-year-old visual humor" bit. I don't buy the idea that those kind of things are only for little kids. I think they can be funny any time, if it's done right. I think most of the time in movies, that kind of visual gag isn't done right for adults, but it works for the little kids, so that's why visual gags like that aren't really seen in movies meant for teenagers and adults. Besides, I laughed at those bits, and I'm 21 (woohoo for finally being 21!).

Family Guy was an established good show which is why the Star Wars episode worked.  This is a standalone movie and I just don't think it's gonna work.

But why we're arguing about a movie that's not out for some time I don't know.

I don't think Family Guy needed to be an established show to do that. As it is, they only did one of their trademark cut-away gags. It definitely wasn't a typical Family Guy episode. If that episode had come out in their first season I think it still would have worked. It might have been better received because it was an established show when they did it, but still.

And who knows? I could be totally wrong and think the movie is totally stupid. I'm willing to give it a chance though.

The thing about Family Guy being a series is that it can do something totally different for a change but still be the same show.  It's not just a scene-by-scene parody, it's a 1:1 character match up with two sets of well-known characters.

This movie has no background as it's just a single movie.  I just think that from the trailer it looks really confused as to who it's intended for and what kind of humor it's going to have.  And who knows?  I could be totally wrong and think the movie is great and pulled off in some crazily amazing way.  But I highly doubt it.

Ok...

There's a show that I've started watching on DVD recently, because my fiance has begged me to, that most males hate.  I'm afraid to admit, though, that I'm actually sort of liking it.

And no, it's not The OC, Laguna Beach, or The Hills.

Gilmore Girls, America's Next Top Model, Will and Grace

Anything like that?

It's gotta be Gilmore Girls because I think you mentioned watching it with your fiancee before.  I wouldn't watch it on DVD, but I always watch it when I happen to find it on TV.  When that happens I always enjoy watching and wondering what the show is about.  It's usually pretty enjoyable.

Yeah, I enjoy Gilmore Girls. There's many, many other shows I would get on DVD before that, but like tapey I watch it on TV whenever I come across it. It's got very witty humor and full of pop culture references, which I love.

Yeah, it's the Girls that we've been watching.  I have to get used to how quickly they talk, because lines come at you at machine gun speed, but like you said, anakin, the various references made are usually pretty funny.  I just started Netflix, so it's pretty quick and easy to get the TV show DVD's.  If I didn't have Netflix, I wouldn't go out of my way to rent TV show DVD's.

Yeah, one of my favorites is when they're playing this game to see who they're going to marry, and Lorelai goes first. She looks and spots an older guy, and goes "Pass." When Rory asks why, she goes "Because I'm not Anna Nicole Smith." The second guy is a younger guy, and she passes, saying "Because I'm not Mary-Kay Latourno." The third one...well, that one always cracks me up.

Now, am I the only one that just can't stand Saved by the Bell? I get it's a "classic", but seriously, I don't find it funny at all.

wtf I hate you guys  If you are mad, perhaps this icon will do?

Saved By The Bell was never a funny show, despite in a "wow, that's incredibly corny" kind of way. And it's considered a classic because it encapsulates the high school experience for kids living in the 80s/90s. Like The Breakfast Club.
