Member Survivor: BHZ Edition - Main Thread
« on: August 13, 2007, 11:27:04 pm »

Hello everyone. Welcome to Member Survivor: BHZ Edition.

I would like to thank the twelve of you for signing up for the game, and I hope that you will enjoy yourselves.

Now, some information.

Challenges are EVERY NIGHT FROM 8:00 PM EST UNTIL 9:00 PM EST. If your team loses the immunity challenge, YOUR VOTES ARE DUE BY 10:00 PM EST. The first challenge begins TONIGHT (August 14th) at 8:00 PM EST. Challenges will be posted in this thread so watch for them here.

IMPORTANT -> If you know for a fact that you will be unable to play the game for a certain night, PM ME!. Even if you have mentioned the stuff to me in your applications, PM ME ANYWAYS. If you are going to be away, you have to let me know, because if you miss voting at a tribal council, you will receive A PENALTY VOTE. If you get three penalty votes, YOU ARE AUTOMATICALLY ELIMINATED FROM THE GAME. Even having one penalty vote can be a pain - they act as tiebreakers in the case of a split vote at tribal council.

Alright, now. Everyone is probably curious about tribes. This time around, I focused on how much time each of you has spent on this forum as detailed in each of your "Forum Statistics."

The three people with the most time spent online will be joined with the three people with the least time spent online. You six will be known as Tribe 143, and you will always wear Yellow buffs. Why 143? Because as of this posting, the six of you combined have spent 143 days on this forum.

Tribe 143:

[MBD123]

The remaining six contestants will be known as Tribe 96, and will always wear Teal buffs. As you probably guessed, you are named Tribe 96 because as of the last time I checked, you guys have spent a combined 96 days on this forum.

Tribe 96:

[Elina Blossomwing]
[Snakewater]

Once the two tribes merged, goombazoid, as winner of the first merged immunity challenge, named the new tribe Tribe Goombazoid. Members of this tribe will always wear brown buffs.

Tribe Goombazoid:

[goombazoid]
tape-leg
[stinkoman k]
[Rather on Fire]
[scoobysnacks]
ET
[Lufis]
[Homestarguy]
[Teatime]

IMPORTANT NOTES

#1: Survivor is a game where you get betrayed. Plain and simple. No matter how confident you are in an alliance, there will always be that possibility that you will be the one going home. DO NOT react poorly to this.  Don’t forget, you guys all signed a form, and I have documented each one of your applications.  Please be mature and respectful, as you all have promised to be.

#2: I remind all contestants that this is the main thread, where challenges are posted. Do not use this as a place to communicate. That is done in your camp thread.

#3: Member Survivor has evolved to a point where having AIM is very important. While it's not required, it might be worth looking into if you don't already have it. Many board members use it to keep in touch anyways, so it's a good way of staying on the ball in terms of game activities. If you don’t want to download AIM onto your computer, you can try using AIM Express, but you’ll still need to sign up for a screen name.

#4: I also remind contestants that you are to remain in your tribe thread. I would prefer that you don’t go snooping around, seeing what the other team is up to. That kind of ruins tribe dynamics and everything like that. The spiffy "Who's Online" feature will let me know if you are looking in a camp thread that you shouldn't be looking at, so please, try and be honorable.

#5: Once you are voted out of the game, YOU ARE NO LONGER PERMITTED TO POST IN ANY SORT OF TRIBE THREAD OR MAIN THREAD UNLESS SPECIFICALLY TOLD OTHERWISE.

#6: This might seem like common sense, but think before you post. Don’t be hurtful for the sake of being hurtful, and ALWAYS REMAIN MINDFUL AND CONSIDERATE of everyone around you.

#7: I do not plan on having any sort of "outcast tribe." Once you're out of the game, you're out. If you are a member of the jury, you are a spectactor, not part of the game.

#8: SHOW UP! Challenges start at 8:00 PM EST every day unless otherwise mentioned. I have trusted you guys that you'll be here very often.

----

The first immunity challenge will go up tonight (August 14th 2007 at 8:00 PM EST). Please, don't miss it. The first challenge is very important in determining the momentum of the game, so please be here to take part in it.

Everyone, head on over to your camp threads and mingle with your new tribe mates. The game is on.

Yes! I'm ready for another survivor.

BTW: Very interesting way to split tribes, Depressio!

There is a slight chance that tonight's challenge might be a bit late (like 10-15 minutes). I doubt this will be the case, but if by some chance the challenge isn't up at exactly 8, stay tuned to the thread. Again, the challenge will probably be on time, but just in case it isn't, please bear with me. Thanks everyone.

Come on in, everyone. Welcome to the first challenge of Member Survivor: BHZ Edition.

Challenge: Site/Forum Suggestions

The purpose of this challenge is to allow you to get to know your teammates. Combining ideas and opinions is vital to winning tonight, and the tribe that can get its act together quickest will likely walk away winner.

This entire game is inspired by our forum, which has recently celebrated its 4th anniversary. Over that period, BHZ has established its own identity, progressing from a tiny Homestar Runner forum into the board it is today. Each tribe is tasked tonight with developing their own BHZ mascot. Your mascot should represent the unique personality and character of the forum. How you go about this is entirely up to your tribe: talk it over with your teammates to develop and implement your idea.

What you will need by the end of the hour:
1. A picture of your mascot. It doesn’t have to be glamorous or anything like that, but it should be a visual representation of your tribe’s vision.
2. A name for your mascot. This is open-ended as well, just be sure to actually name your creation.
3. A paragraph (4-5 sentences is fine) that describes your team’s mascot. What is it? Why do you think it represents bhz?

You might be wondering how a winner will be decided tonight. Well, unlike most Survivor challenges, this will not be decided by who completes the challenge the fastest. Both teams have until the end of the hour to complete their challenge. At 9:00 PM EST (or before, if both teams finish before then), I will post a thread in the Site/Forum Suggestions section containing both team’s mascot/information. At that point, it will be up to the forum members to vote for their favourite mascot. The mascot that receives the most votes by 10:00 PM EST will win immunity for its team.

Additional Notes
-You can feel free to vote for your own team’s mascot. If each tribe member votes, that’s 6 votes right there.
-DO NOT spam the CGN thread asking for people to vote for your team’s mascot. I would prefer that you don’t nag people over AIM either.
-This challenge is longer than usual. If you know you can’t be around until 10:00 PM EST, send me a PM containing the name of the person you would want to vote off in case your tribe loses. That way, you avoid receiving a penalty vote.
-AIM is almost crucial for this challenge. Organize a group chat so that everyone can contribute ideas. If you’re not on AIM, chances are you will be cut out of the loop.
-ONLY SEND ONE MASCOT IDEA/NAME/PICTURE PER TRIBE. I will only accept one per tribe anyways, but be sure everyone is on the same page. If I receive two mascots from the same tribe, only the first one will be counted.

So that’s the challenge everyone. Get cracking. I’m looking forward to seeing what you guys can come up with.

Just to clarify:

Your mascot can be anything bhz-based. It can be based on a famous member, event, etc. The sky is the limit, as long as it represents bhz.

I have received the information from both tribes. Good work everyone: I am really liking both mascots.

Here is the thread. Feel free to vote for your own mascot, but please, don't petition other members in the CGN poll (or AIM, preferably) to vote for yours. Let the mascots speak for themselves.

Good work guys. At 10:00 PM EST, the results will go here, and one team will be given immunity.

Just a heads up:

If you guys have somewhere else to be and can't stay around until after 10, feel free to send me your votes now in case your team goes to tribal council.

Alright, that was one of the closest challenges EVER. In the end, only one tribe could win.

Immunity goes to...Tribe 96!

Good job guys. You are safe from the vote tonight.

Tribe 143: I will see you guys in your camp thread.

VERY well done guys. I will see you back here tomorrow.

Alright teams, come on in.

Challenge: Videro Games

Tonight’s challenge is based on the High Score! thread found in the Videro Games section. These kinds of early challenges will depend on your ability to cooperate and function with your teammates, a skill that is crucial in determining your advancement in the game. Here’s how it’s going to work tonight:

Using a maximum of THREE tribe members, select THREE different games that were posted over the course of the thread. Once you have achieved a high score, PRINT SCREEN it, save it, and upload it. Once all three tribe members have achieved their desired scores, ONE tribe member must send me a PM containing screen shots of ALL THREE games that were played. The scores from each of the three games will be added up, and the tribe with the highest overall score wins immunity. Note that anyone from the tribe can send me the final PM: you don’t have to be one of the tribe members who achieved the scores.

Keep in mind the ONLY ONE PERSON CAN PLAY EACH GAME. Each tribe member must play a different game. Plan a strategy with your team and divide up the workload as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you have less than three people, you can't do three challenges. You need one person per task.

Any of the games posted in the thread are eligible to be played in this challenge. HOWEVER, make sure there is an opportunity during the game to print screen your score, because you must provide visual proof of your score.

Additionally, even if you have a high score posted in the thread you must play the game AGAIN specifically for this challenge. Don’t recycle your old score: you have to start over for this event.

Also, if applicable, please fill out your forum name if the game allows it. That way, I can be sure that you are in fact the one playing. Member Survivor runs on the honor/human decency system, so don’t be a jerk and use someone else’s score.

Keep in mind that you guys have an hour for the challenge: you can keep going until you get a score you are satisfied with, but keep your eyes on the clock to make sure you get the stuff in on time.

The team with the highest combined score at the end of the hour will claim immunity tonight. Get to it, everyone.

Survivors ready? Go!

And that's time.

The winner of tonight's challenge is Tribe 143. Congrats guys, you 5 are safe from the vote.

Tribe 96, I'm sorry, but you couldn't get it together it seems. I'll see you guys in your thread for your first tribal council.

Alright everyone, tonight's challenge is going to be a little different.

I am going to need THREE people from each tribe to PM me. You can talk this over with your tribe or simply PM me when you see this message. ONLY PM ME IF YOU ARE SURE YOU WILL BE HERE FOR THE CHALLENGE.

I hope to receive 3 PMs from each tribe before the challenge tonight. Should be an interesting one...

I have received stuff from both tribes. I have begun sending stuff to each representative. What you will receive might not make sense, but PLEASE don't share the information with ANYONE until the challenge begins. It will all become clear in under 30 mins.
