I have to say, I immensely enjoyed (and probably enjoy, if I were to watch it again) Wrath of the Dragon.

So count the Transformers movie then as part of the .01% that do work, then? Or do you consider that more of a comics adaptation, as Transformers is also well-known for their comics (and indeed is where the main continuity is, as I think it's a continuation of the G1 Transformers and is a precursor to Beast Wars).

I have to say, I immensely enjoyed (and probably enjoy, if I were to watch it again) Wrath of the Dragon.
Super Dragon Fist Attack! If Goku Can't Do It, Who Will? (japanese title) My favorite DBZ movie. But I only watch it in japanese with subtitles. English just doesn't cut it. Great movie. Love it. Anyway, I think the effects look pretty good in this movie, although I am still mad at piccolo.  I like the bright colors in the movie and the matrix-like effects. |

I have the movie on VHS. In Japanese. With subs.
Don't ask me how. I just do.
I also had a belief when I was a kid that this was just a stand alone movie and did not tie to anything else. I didn't have a channel that actually aired dragon ball z until I was like 12.
I'd say the movie is better than the series by a long shot.

Man, I have seen all of the DBZ OVAs (OAVs? I could never figure out which one was right, as the box would always say something different). My friend and I would go to the comic store, and every week they would get a new shipment of subtitled tapes in from who-knows-where.
I remember being blown away by pretty much all of the movies for a lot of reasons. The condensed time meant that there was less filler and more fighting. Also, the channel that broadcast DBZ here would always restart the series after the Frieza saga, so it was really cool to see lots of Super Saiyans running around. This was also at a time before I had regular access to a computer, so every time I saw one of these movies, I had absolutely no idea what to expect.
I believe that my favourites were the first Broly movie, the Bojack one, the Super Android 13 one, and of course, Super Dragon Fist Attack! If Goku Can't Do It, Who Will? Tapion was awesome.

Wow, where's all this hate for the live-action Transformers coming from? Seems to me when it came out people were like "Whoa, sweet!" Especially people on this forum. I think there was like one person that didn't like it (might have been Jack, but I'm not sure).
And in java, a not equal would be !=

I enjoyed Transformers, but for that matter I'm easy to please with superhero/action movies. I guess I just have high expectations for Dragonball movies because I think so much of the original series.
