My vote would go to the Dragonball series, most notably DBZ. Yeah, I understand the complaints about it, but it has great storylines, epic action, and good humor to boot. And in case you're wondering, I liked it before it became super popular, and still like it even though it's fallen off the radar screen. Worth checking out, at least in my opinion.
Yes The Chort you rule. I also love DBZ and the rest of the Dragonball series. I also got into it before it was super popular. I was really happy to find out they started selling the season sets. So far I have seasons 2, 3, and 4. The only reason I don't have season 1 yet is because it is really hard to find in stores. I will probably have to buy it online and season 5 comes out later this month which I'm definetly getting. Anyway Cowboy Bebop is a must see it is seriously one of the greatest animes ever with it probably being second behind DBZ. Also no one mention this but One Piece is a really good anime I've recently gotten into. Im only on episode like 113 out of like 360ish but it is really good. Only watch the japanese version though the english version is terrible. Rourouni Kenshin is another great anime I would suggest. The Kenshin character is so cool and the story is great. Outlaw Star was a good anime you can try watching. I haven't seen it in forever though and I just remember I really enjoyed it. Finally you can try watching Full Metal Panic. It's a really funny anime about some military sergeant who has to pose as a high schooler to protect this girl and he always gets into crazy situations. Its kinda like Gundam Wing because he fights in Gundam like vehicles but it is also really funny. Those are my suggestions there all very good animes in there own way.

Guyver. Start with the movie. I don't know why it's so great for me, but maybe the fact that they have a sequence in the movie where the main character (a teenager in a metal suit from space) is splitting alien monsters in half while some sort of inspirational 80s style music is playing. No, I did not make this up. The only English version is in subtitles, as far as I know.

Yeah, Azumanga Daioh is a very enjoyable show. Did you watch it dubbed or subtitled?

I always watch subs, but I've heard the AD dub is pretty good.

I watched it first, so I'm completely used to the voices in it, but it's okay I guess.

How did I miss this the first time around? Odd... Anywho, since it hasn't been mentioned in this thread and I think it is definately worth watching: TRI-FREAKING-GUNSeriously, the best television show I have ever seen. Its fairly short (26 episodes I believe), but oh so sweet. The show has a magnificent mix of Science Fiction, Western Action, beautiful animation (although, that impact has lessened slightly. It was made a decade ago after all), and perfect voice acting. That last one is key, as Trigun dubbed version is actually on par, if not superior(though that'd just be my opinion), to its sub. Like in most cases, Trigun is baed off of a magna that came before the anime. But unlike other animes I've seen (*cough*fma*cough*), Trigun (the anime) seems to be fairly canon to its source material. It stretches through the initial story arc of the series and ends at a suitable point, while the manga continues onwards with new characters and what have you. If you get around to wanting to check out another series, Trigun would be an amazing pick. *And a Language warning on those links. Sorry for not catching that earlier.

*shrugs* It's completely opinion based. Some people I know think that FullMetal Alchemist, Death Note, or even (bleck) Naruto are the best shows they've seen. I thought all of them were just Ok. Except for Naruto. That show is just plain bad. Trigun was the first "real" (as in not Digimon, Pokemon, DBZ, etc) that I watched, and one doesn't tend to be impartial to shows they have fond memories of. But I have watched the series through several times since and have still thoroughly enjoyed it.
